NHMCC operates under the oversight of the Iron Aid Foundation's Board of Trustees. The governance structure consists of:
- Board of Trustees: Provides strategic direction, financial oversight, and ensures compliance with UK regulatory and charity law.
- Management Committee: Established by the Imam of NHMCC to oversee daily operations, implement policies and manage community engagement.
- Sub-Committees: Formed for specific functions such as events, activities, education and other community services.
Iron Aid Foundation Board of Trustee
- Provide oversight and ensure alignment with Iron Aid Foundation’s objectives.
- Approve NHMCC’s annual budget, policies and strategic plans.
- Monitor compliance with Charity Commission and UK regulations.
- Review quarterly update reports from the Management Committee.
- Implement governance policies set by the Board of Trustees.
- Manage daily operations of NHMCC and IAF Halls Complex, Northwood.
- Oversee all staffing, volunteer coordination and activities and events for both sites.
- Ensure health & safety, safeguarding and risk management for both sites.
- Submit regular reports to the Board of Trustees.
- Responsible for specific areas such as events, youth and adult activities, community
services and educational initiatives. - Report progress and recommendations to the Management Committee.
- Each Sub-Committee shall operate under a defined remit outlining its purpose,
reporting lines and approved operational budget. For example, if the Youth
Committee plans an event such as a football day, it must prepare a proposal for
Management Committee approval, including risk appraisal, budget and logistical
needs
- Provide transparent financial transactional evidence to allow Iron Aid Foundation
to maintain satisfactory records, in accordance with UK charity law. - Ensure all material transactions are documented and authorised at the appropriate
level. Material transactions shall be defined as individual expenditures exceeding
£1,000, unless otherwise revised by the Board of Trustees. - Submit six-monthly financial reports to the Board of Trustees.
- Ensure support to Iron Aid Foundation for its annual financial audits.
- Comply with UK company and charity regulations, employment laws and health &
safety legislation. - Conduct regular risk assessments for both NHMCC and IAF Halls Complex,
Northwood. - Implement safeguarding policies for vulnerable individuals. The Imam, who will be
the Safeguarding Lead for both sites, will have his contact details clearly displayed
at each site. All safeguarding concerns must be reported to the Safeguarding Lead,
who will follow the documented policy. - Maintain a documented complaints and grievance procedure.
The complaints process shall include:- Informal resolution with relevant staff or volunteer
- If unresolved, escalate to the Site Manager.
- If still unresolved, refer to the Head of the Management Committee.
- Escalation to the Trustees is reserved for serious, unresolved cases.
